Description

Looking at the LCBO and other institutions we see how long term planning for technological development can be part of any record keeping project. Its not enough to just know that in the future something good will happen, we have to keep an eye on how we can prepare.

This seminar takes some basic examples of how change could be foreseen and how this was used to the advantage of various organizations. Not just the technological change is important but its changes to how organizations develop their response to inevitable legislative and social change in response to that technological change.

This seminar will look at specific examples of technological change to record keeping and the eventual changes in other areas that took place. As well, we will see how the hype of technological change can steer Records Management in the wrong direction. Taking a look at successes and failures we will see how if we sticking to the basic fundamental principals of the profession is useful but not enough to meet the challenge..
