Michael Moosberger was appointed Dalhousie University Archivist in 2000. He previously worked in the Archives at the University of Manitoba in a number of roles. Michael is responsible for all aspects of the Archives' operation including collection development, appraisal, preservation, planning, grantsmanship, and records management for diverse holdings that include the University’s historical records as well as various areas of private manuscripts including faculty papers, and the records of Nova Scotia culture, business, labour, the environment, and medicine.
In July 2014, Michael was appointed Associate University Librarian Research and Scholarly Communication. In this position, Michael provides leadership in the emerging areas of digital scholarship and GIS services including systemwide oversight for digitization, digital preservation, research data management, institutional repository services, open access publishing, scholarly communication, and overseeing the GIS Centre and Map Collection.
Michael has held a number of leadership positions within the Canadian archival community over his career including President of the Association of Canadian Archivists, President of the Association of Manitoba Archives and President of the Council of Nova Scotia Archives. Michael obtained an M.A. in History and Archival Administration from the University of Windsor.
