Carys Billinghurst initially worked as a social worker. While working in a long term care setting she became the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Coordinator and the Health Information Act Coordinator. She then worked in privacy for over a decade. She has a certificate in Project Management from MacEwan University and a certificate in Records and Information Management from the University of Toronto. She has worked in information management and has recently worked on the development of compliance programs. Carys is a strong advocate for the need for compliance with applicable legislation and internationally recognized standards.
