Ephemeral messaging applications like Confide, SnapChat, and Telegram are designed to automatically delete messages from all devices (sender and recipient(s)) after they have been read or after a pre-set (and very brief) period of time. The increasing use of ephemeral messaging to conduct business creates many information governance challenges.

This session will explore:
• What is ‘ephemeral messaging’? (definition and examples)
• Business benefits and risks of ephemeral messaging
• Regulation of ephemeral messaging
• Governing ephemeral messages: guidelines and tips Who should attend? R/IM professionals who want to learn about ephemeral messaging and, particularly, the information governance challenge of this communication method which is becoming increasingly common as many employees work from home during the pandemic.
